On Saturday, the United States will observe Veterans Day, an observance in which people remember those who served in the Armed Forces and returned to civilian life.
Originally known as Armistice Day and held on the anniversary of the day World War I ended, Veterans Day is often marked by parades, social gatherings and retail sales.
The holiday can also be a time of solemn reflection, in memory of those who served and the sacrifices they made in conflict, as well as the hope of eventually seeing peace.
Here are seven hymns that are relevant to the themes of Veterans Day, such as the desire for peace and the importance of service.
