Although Christmas is several weeks away, the Great American Family’s annual Christmas movie event has already begun, with 20 movies debuting between October and December.

Known as the “Great American Christmas,” the Christmas movie marathon began on Oct. 13 and will feature the premieres of 20 new films through Dec. 23.

Candace Cameron Bure, chief creative officer with Great American Media, announced earlier this month that the event was beginning a week sooner than originally planned.

The first film to premiere was “Destined 2: Christmas Once More,” which aired on Oct. 14. The story follows a man played by Casey Elliott who is plotting a Christmas proposal to his girlfriend, who is played by Shae Robins.

Last Saturday marked the debut of “‘Twas the Text Before Christmas,” which stars Merritt Patterson and Trevor Donovan, while this coming Saturday will see the debut of “Bringing Christmas Home,” starring Jill Wagner and Paul Greene.

Bure took to Instagram on Oct. 12 to promote the multi-day movie-watching event, saying the lineup is “the most heartwarming holiday experience on television.”

Other films debuting during the Great American Christmas marathon include: “Journey to Christmas,” “A Dash of Christmas,” “Our Christmas Wedding,” “Christmas Keepsake,” “A Christmas Blessing,” “Santa, Maybe,” “A Paris Christmas Waltz,” “My Christmas Hero,” “A Royal Date for Christmas,” “A Christmas for the Ages,” “Christmas on Windmill Way,” “The Jinglebell Jubilee,” “Meet Me Under the Mistletoe,” “Peppermints & Postcards,” “Designing Christmas with You,” “12 Games of Christmas” and “A Royal Christmas Holiday.”

A Christian actress who first rose to stardom through the 1990s sitcom “Full House,” Bure accepted an executive role at GAC Media in April last year to help create family-friendly entertainment programming for the channels GAC Family and GAC Living.

“I am constantly looking for ways that I can inspire people to live life with purpose,” Bure said in a statement in 2022 celebrating her decision to join the media company.

“GAC fits my brand perfectly; we share a vision of creating compelling, wholesome content for an audience who wants to watch programming for and with the whole family.”

Last November, Bure stirred controversy among some on the Left when she took a stand, saying she had no plans to include LGBT romance storylines in the Christmas romance films that GAC makes.

“I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core,” said Bure at the time, noting that for critics of this decision, she had “a simple message: I love you anyway.”
